The Westbury branch of Great Western Railway required new Train Crew Facilities which Module-AR Limited were awarded the contract to design, manufacture and install.
The building was constructed of 10 No. modules in a 2 storey format. Steel external doors, UPVC double glazed windows and Plastisol was chosen for the external walls and fascia to provide a long-lasting structure that is maintenance free. Internally, the building was installed with 2.4m high suspended ceilings and a 3.5kN/m² floor loading. Carpet tiles were fitted in all Offices and Meeting rooms, whereas Polysafe vinyl was installed in the Kitchen and WC’s to ensure an easy to clean and hard wearing surface.
The ground floor of the Great Western Railway building features a 110 No. person double-height Locker room, a Booking On Point, a Mess room (with fridge, sink and water cooler), Quiet room, female Locker/Shower room, Corridor and WC‘s. To reach the first floor of the structure there is an external covered stairwell which takes staff into a Corridor accompanied by a Driver Manager/Driver Comp Managers Office, Drivers Rules/Interview room, Guards Rules/Interview room, Store room, Meeting room and Guards Manager/Depot Admin/Guards Comp Managers Office.
The full building was delivered in just 2 No. days which is what made the Module-AR Limited building solution the most attractive to Great Western Railway. The Train Crew Facilities are situated next to the train line, however Module-AR Limited were still able to crane the modules in to position with minimal stress and hassle. Overall the project was completed in 12 weeks which included the design, manufacture and installation of the building.
